Bereavement Assistance was founded with a service driven philosophy. We focus on giving our client families care, compassion and understanding when they are at the most vulnerable and emotional time of their life.

Our customer service focus was led by Ted Worthington, the company’s co-founder. He set the example by giving the community free funeral celebrant services and saving his own money for free funerals.

Ted’s commitment to service, charity and the community was recognised in 2011 when he was awarded the Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia. Ted was also rewarded by News Corp Australia as an outstanding community member with his Pride of Australia Medal for Care and Compassion in 2010.

Since the company’s start in 1997, Ted’s passion for helping families has been shared by his Bereavement Assistance staff, the leadership team and company board

Compassionate Leadership

Our leadership team, which comprises Board Members with a commitment to continue Ted’s vision and focus, and they all share the same service ethos and are passionate about continuing the vision developed by the founders:

“To meet the growing need of the Victorian community falling below the poverty line by providing financial relief and emotional support for people affected by death… leaving them free to grieve”

The leadership team’s goal is to create, maintain and grow a unified team with a strong sustainable company culture, while also keeping costs to a minimum so Bereavement Assistance can provide a dignified service to as many Victorian’s as possible.
